Mecalux is to build an automated rack-supported warehouse for PepsiCo in Michrów, near Warsaw. Announced by Mecalux on 21 September 2026, it will be PepsiCo’s third Mecalux logistics installation in Poland, following facilities in Środa Śląska and Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
The warehouse will sit next to PepsiCo’s Michrów beverage plant, which produces Pepsi, Mirinda, 7UP, Mountain Dew, Rockstar and Lipton Iced Tea. “Our goal is to reduce the logistics costs associated with transporting products to facilities outside the PepsiCo network,” said Bartosz Bielicki, Project Manager at PepsiCo.
Key specifications
- Height: 38 m; length: 101 m
- Capacity: 28,500 pallets – equivalent to more than 1,000 fully loaded trucks
- Six double-deep stacker cranes
- 220 m enclosed bridge with lifts and an electric monorail system linking production and storage
- Easy WMS managing goods flow in real time with FEFO (first expired, first out) rotation
Throughput and energy recovery
The bridge will automatically carry goods from the production lines into the warehouse. “The new warehouse will be able to receive more than 200 pallets per hour and dispatch another 200, enabling us to handle around 150 trucks a day. It will also reduce energy consumption by recovering braking energy from the stacker cranes,” said Arkadiusz Chłystek, Senior Project Engineer at PepsiCo.
Fewer truck movements
By consolidating stock at the production site, PepsiCo expects to reduce its reliance on external storage. The company anticipates eliminating around 8,000 transport movements a year, avoiding nearly 2 million kilometres of travel and cutting CO₂ emissions by approximately 2,000 tonnes annually. The project is aligned with PepsiCo Positive (pep+), the company’s sustainability programme.
